THE LAKES
Surrounded by lush forested ridges, the TiogaHammond and Cowanesque Lakes located in
northern Tioga County offer recreation for the entire
family. Collectively, the lakes offer 2,268 acres of
water with 32 miles of shoreline. There are no limits
on boat size or horsepower, yet there are many
no wake areas for those fishing, enjoying wildlife,
or spotting osprey. Five boat launch ramps are
available.
Recreational Activities
Swimming, boating, picnicking (shelters available),
hiking, hunting, fishing, overnight camping. For a

DIRECTIONS
The Tioga-Hammond Lake Ives Run Recreation Area entrance for
camping and day-use recreation is located along Route 287, 12 miles
north of Wellsboro and south of Tioga. Cowanesque Lake South Shore
Recreation Area entrance for day-use recreation is located along Route 49
west of Lawrenceville and east of Elkland. Cowanesque Lake Tompkins
Campground is located along Bliss Road on the north side of the lake.
